Georgina Nicoll was born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, in 1987. She went to school in Courtenay B.C., graduating in 2004 with the Governor General's Bronze Medallion for academic achievement. She completed her Royal Conservatory of Music Grade 9 Piano in 2003, and in that year began teaching piano, and playing as a choir accompanist. For two years she sang with the Cantiamo Chamber Ensemble, which debuted her choral arrangement of Wings of a Swan in a concert in the spring of 2004 in Courtenay.
Between 2000 and 2007, Georgina performed and recorded with The Island Girls - a group of five young women playing Celtic, French-Canadian and original music. Her compositions and arrangements are included on three Island Girls' CDs, and have been performed by the band at festivals including the Vancouver Island MusicFest in Courtenay, Le Festival du Voyageur in Winnipeg, the Warwick Folk Festival in England, the Dranouter Festival in Belgium, and Festival des Cultures du Monde in France.
